Voice Instructors


Felicia Chaves



Felicia is a singer and multi-instrumentalist from Cambridge. She completed her Bachelor of Music Degree at Wilfrid Laurier University concentrating in Integrated Musical Arts where she completed courses and capstone projects involving songwriting, recording, and performance. Felicia has always had a passion for performing, and you can find her doing just that with her band The Blue Nova playing around Southern Ontario. She is thrilled to be part of the Octave Music team and pass on her passion for music!














Emily Steers



Emily Steers is a soprano from Guelph Ontario. Having recently completed her MA in Community Music at Wilfrid Laurier University, she now enjoys teaching voice full time. With a background in classical voice pedagogy and rooted in community practice, she is a big believer in everyone's ability to sing, and helping people find their own authentic and healthy sound! Emily strives to make her studio space a welcoming and accessible place for anyone who wants to sing. She teaches classical, musical theatre, pop and folk.

Emily is an ardent fan and performer of new music, having recently premiered a solo chamber opera by Alexander Wright and co-founding the virtual musical workshop "Inside Voices".
She is equally passionate about early music, co-founding the Rubrum Aurum early music trio in 2018 and touring the Maritime provinces in the spring of 2019. She has a diverse set of operatic performances under her belt, ranging from Mozart to Monteverdi to Janáček.

Recently, Emily has been honing her skills as a conductor, working with the Mount Allison Elliott Chorale, the Laurier Singers, and the chorus of Vera Causa Opera.













Abu Ghouri



Abu is an experienced educator, performer, and composer in the Guelph region. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Humber College in Voice and is currently recording his first studio album.
Abu has trained with many renowned instructors including Elaine Overholt, Shannon Gunn, Lorraine Lawson, Orville Heyn, and Yvette Tollar.
He primarily teaches in the styles of Pop, R&B, Jazz, Blues, and Classical Piano, with Jazz and R&B being his speciality, with a heavy gospel influence in his style. He has educated kids since 2016 and has taught voice and piano since 2017.
Abu can help a student expand their skills and make them feel more comfortable and confident in expressing and sharing their gifts and is passionate about inspiring his students to achieve their musical goals.

Abu teaches Piano, Voice, Guitar, Ukulele and Music Theory.














Kyle Logue


Kyle is a Coloratura Soprano, harpist and dancer, who has performed in the KW region, the GTA, and London. She has received training through instructors at both Laurier University and the University of Waterloo, and was apart of the inaugural year of the Music Theatre Academy at Laurier.

Kyle has fused her classical training with her love of metal music. She's the lead singer of a metal band, as well as her own symphonic metal project where she composes metal songs with operatic vocals.

Adept in the styles and techniques of opera, classical, belt/mix, and even kulning, she is able to help singers expand their skills and styles regardless of their background. However, rock and metal are her passion!

Kyle has performance experience with live bands, musical theatre, recitals, weddings, and other events. She can also help guide students in learning how to overcome stage fright and enhance their performance skills, specializing in performance anxiety coaching.

Kyle typically teaches adults who are interested in rock and metal repertoire, performing, expanding their range and learning new vocal styles.
